Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passia, a US-based Khalistani terrorist, is set to be extradited to India following his arrest in April. Singh, who was apprehended by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on April 18, is accused of orchestrating at least 16 terror attacks across Punjab. His alleged collaborations with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) have made him a significant target for Indian authorities.
Singh, originally from Amritsar, Punjab, has been linked to multiple hand grenade attacks on police stations in both Punjab and the United States. His activities have drawn the attention of international law enforcement agencies, leading to his capture in the US. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed Singh’s involvement in planning attacks on police stations and assured that justice would be served. The FBI Sacramento office played a crucial role in coordinating the investigation with local and Indian partners.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India had previously announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to Singh’s capture. He is wanted in connection with a hand grenade attack on a house in Chandigarh, among other charges. Singh faces over 30 criminal cases, highlighting the extent of his alleged criminal activities.
Singh’s extradition marks a significant step in international cooperation against terrorism. His return to India will allow authorities to further investigate his connections and potentially dismantle networks involved in cross-border terrorism. The case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by global law enforcement agencies in combating terrorism and ensuring justice across borders.
