Smriti Irani is set to make a highly anticipated return to television with the reboot of the beloved series “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.” The first look of Irani as Tulsi Virwani has been released, showcasing her in a maroon saree adorned with golden butis and a rich zari border. Her look is completed with a big red bindi, traditional temple jewelry, a black-beaded mangalsutra, and stacked bangles, paying homage to early-2000s TV fashion. The original series aired from 2000 to 2008, dominating the ratings for seven years.

In a recent conversation with Barkha Dutt and Karan Johar on “We The Women,” Smriti Irani discussed her decision to step away from a planned 2014 reboot due to her responsibilities as a cabinet minister in the Indian Parliament. She recounted how she had to decline the opportunity after receiving a call from the Prime Minister’s office to take an oath. Irani also shared advice she received from Rishi Kapoor, who encouraged her to prioritize serving her country over her television career.

Amar Upadhyay, who returns as Mihir Virani, confirmed that the show’s premiere has been delayed. According to a source quoted by Hindustan Times, the delay is due to necessary changes being made to the set. Upadhyay explained that the color scheme on screen was not translating as intended, prompting revisions. He emphasized Ektaa Kapoor’s commitment to perfection, noting that “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” is not just another show but a legacy that deserves meticulous attention.
