Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla Engages Students from ISS

Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, currently on a mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), recently connected with students from Meghalaya and Assam through Ham radio, facilitated by the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in Shillong. This unique interaction provided students with a firsthand account of life in space, offering them a glimpse into the daily routines and challenges faced by astronauts.

During the session, Shukla addressed various questions posed by the students, covering topics such as the rigorous training astronauts undergo before embarking on their missions, the effects of microgravity on the human body, and how astronauts maintain their health while in space. He emphasized the importance of physical exercise to counteract the effects of weightlessness and highlighted how teamwork is crucial for the success of space missions.

Shukla also elaborated on the role of robotics in space exploration. He explained how robotic systems assist astronauts with various tasks, enhancing their efficiency and safety. This interaction not only inspired the students but also encouraged them to consider careers in space exploration and related fields. Shukla’s message was clear: many of these young minds could one day become future astronauts themselves.

The event was a significant opportunity for students to engage directly with an astronaut, fostering interest in science and technology. It underscored the importance of educational outreach programs in inspiring the next generation of scientists and explorers. By sharing his experiences, Shukla aimed to ignite a passion for space exploration among the youth, potentially paving the way for future innovations and discoveries.
