Widow Seeks Secret Service Accountability After Trump Rally Shooting

One year has passed since the tragic shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Corey Comperatore lost his life. His widow, Helen Comperatore, is now demanding accountability from the Secret Service for their security lapses on that fateful day. “We were all sitting ducks that day. Our blood is all over their hands. I am angry. I lost the love of my life. They screwed up,” she expressed in an interview with Fox News.

The incident involved a 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Crooks, who managed to climb onto a rooftop and fire eight rounds into the crowd. The shots resulted in the death of Corey Comperatore and injuries to three others, including then-President Donald Trump. The Secret Service has acknowledged multiple failures in their security measures, raising questions about why the rooftop was not adequately secured.

Helen Comperatore is seeking answers and accountability from the agency. “Why Butler? Why was that such a failure? Why weren’t they paying attention? Why did they think that that roof didn’t need covered? I want to sit down and talk to them. I have the right to. They need to listen to me,” she stated.

The shooter, Thomas Crooks, was described as a once-shy college student who meticulously planned the attack, stockpiling weapons and creating explosives in his bedroom. In a poignant moment during the interview, Fox News Correspondent Alexis McAdams asked Helen what she would say to Crooks’ parents. Helen responded, “Why would you not go in there and look in his room and say…you know what son, you need help.”

Former President Trump has announced that a comprehensive report on the assassination attempt will be released, though no timeline has been provided. In response to the incident, six Secret Service agents have been suspended without pay or benefits as investigations continue into the security breaches.
