British golfer Charley Hull faced a challenging day at the Evian Championship in France, as her participation was abruptly halted due to health concerns. On Thursday, Hull collapsed twice near the No. 4 tee at the Evian Resort Golf Club, prompting immediate medical attention. The incident occurred during a critical moment in the tournament, where Hull, ranked as the women’s world No. 19 golfer, was striving to make her mark.
Hull’s first collapse happened just before she was set to take her tee shot. Medical personnel quickly arrived on the scene to assist her, causing a brief delay of approximately 15 minutes. Despite the setback, Hull managed to regain her composure and attempted to continue playing. However, shortly after completing her swing, she fell again, necessitating further medical intervention.
It was later revealed that Hull had been battling an illness, which significantly impacted her performance. The 29-year-old golfer was eventually transported off the course on a stretcher after being helped onto a cart. Her condition led to her withdrawal from the tournament, marking a disappointing end to what could have been a promising run.
Before her withdrawal, Hull’s score stood at even par. She has been actively pursuing her first major victory, with notable performances in recent tournaments. At the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open, Hull achieved one of her best finishes by tying for second place. This year, she secured a tie for 12th place in the same event.
Hull’s determination and skill continue to make her a formidable competitor in women’s golf. Her recent health setback is a temporary hurdle as she remains focused on achieving future successes in major tournaments.
