FBI Director Kash Patel has publicly refuted rumors of discord within the Trump administration’s law-and-order team. On Saturday, Patel took to social media to dismiss speculation about a potential resignation over Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. This statement came just hours before President Donald Trump defended Bondi amid backlash related to the Epstein investigation. The controversy was fueled by the release of a Department of Justice memo, which debunked theories about an alleged Epstein client list, asserting that no such document exists.
The Epstein case has been a source of significant tension, particularly after a one-minute gap in surveillance footage from Epstein’s cell was revealed as part of the DOJ’s evidence. The review concluded that Epstein died by suicide in jail in 2019. Reports surfaced that Deputy Director Dan Bongino was considering resigning if Bondi remained in her position, although these claims remain unconfirmed. Patel, however, firmly denied any intention to step down, emphasizing his commitment to serving President Trump.
President Trump addressed his supporters’ reactions on Truth Social, expressing dissatisfaction with their criticism of Bondi. Videos circulated online showing MAGA supporters burning hats in protest. Trump reiterated his support for Bondi, describing her as doing a “fantastic job” and urged unity within the MAGA movement. He also criticized former political figures and administrations for allegedly creating the “Epstein Files.”
Rumors about potential leadership changes were partly triggered by changes in Patel’s social media biography, which no longer listed him as FBI Director. Sources reported a heated exchange between Bongino and Bondi during a White House meeting, where Bongino accused Bondi of lacking transparency in the Epstein probe. Despite these tensions, Bondi and Patel have shown a united front, with Bondi reportedly having no plans to resign.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields emphasized that Trump’s law-and-order team is working cohesively to ensure public safety and justice. Fields dismissed any attempts to create division within the team as baseless distractions from their progress.
