In a shocking incident at Paras Hospital in Patna, Bihar, five men brazenly entered a hospital room and shot dead a notorious gangster, Chandan Mishra. The attack occurred on Thursday, with the perpetrators leaving the scene on motorcycles shortly after committing the crime. Mishra, who was on parole for medical treatment, succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The entire episode was captured on CCTV, showing three of the armed men riding a single bike, one of them brandishing a gun triumphantly.
Chandan Mishra was a well-known gangster with a criminal record that included 24 cases, among them a dozen murders. Originally from Buxar district, he had been transferred to Bhagalpur jail before being admitted to the hospital. The attack is believed to be orchestrated by a rival gang, intensifying the ongoing gang wars in the region.
The police have made progress in the investigation by detaining Tauseef Badshah, one of the accused. Tauseef hails from Phulwari Sharif in Patna and comes from a family where his father runs a hardware business and his mother is a teacher. Authorities are actively searching for the remaining suspects and conducting raids at various locations to apprehend them.
This incident has sparked political tensions in Bihar, especially as it comes ahead of upcoming elections. The law-and-order situation has become a contentious issue between the Opposition RJD and the ruling JDU-BJP coalition. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has criticized the government for failing to ensure public safety, questioning if anyone is truly safe in Bihar.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha has condemned the incident and assured that justice will be served. He emphasized that such acts of violence will not be tolerated and that those responsible will face strict punishment.
