Astronomer, a prominent US tech company, has announced that its CEO, Andy Byron, has been placed on leave following the emergence of a viral video. The video, which captured Byron in an intimate moment with HR chief Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert, has sparked significant controversy. In response, the company’s Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into the alleged affair between Byron and Cabot. Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, has been appointed as interim CEO during this period.
In a statement released on social media platform X, Astronomer emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct and accountability among its leadership. The company assured stakeholders that it is dedicated to upholding the values and culture that have guided it since its inception. The Board of Directors is actively investigating the situation and plans to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
The incident gained widespread attention after Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin inadvertently highlighted the moment during the concert. As the “kiss cam” focused on Byron and Cabot, Martin jokingly remarked on their apparent intimacy, which led to speculation about an affair. The video quickly went viral, prompting discussions about Byron’s behavior given his marital status. His wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, reportedly removed her surname from her Facebook profile following the video’s circulation.
Andy Byron assumed the role of CEO at Astronomer in July 2023, having previously held senior positions at various tech companies. He resides in Northborough with his wife and two children. Kristin Cabot joined Astronomer as HR head in November 2024, bringing extensive experience in talent management and employee engagement.
Astronomer also addressed misidentifications related to the viral video. The company clarified that Alyssa Stoddard, an employee wrongly identified as being present at the event, was not involved. No other employees appeared in the video.
