Sarfaraz Khan, a prominent figure in the cricket world, recently captured attention with his significant weight loss. On Monday, the talented batter shared an image showcasing a leaner physique, sparking widespread interest. Reports indicate that Sarfaraz shed 17 kg in just over two months. Despite his achievements, including scoring 371 runs in six Test matches, Sarfaraz was not selected for India’s current squad in England. However, he did participate in the India A Tour of England before the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he delivered an impressive performance by scoring a century.
While Sarfaraz has consistently delivered strong performances in domestic cricket, his dedication to improving his fitness is equally noteworthy. His father, Naushad Khan, provided insights into Sarfaraz’s weight loss journey, emphasizing the disciplined approach they adopted. The transformation involved a strict dietary regimen and a focus on healthier food choices.
Naushad Khan detailed the dietary changes that contributed to Sarfaraz’s weight loss. The family eliminated staples like roti and rice from their meals for over a month. Instead, their diet included broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, salads, grilled fish and chicken, boiled eggs, and green beverages like tea and coffee. They also incorporated avocados and sprouts while avoiding sugar, flour-based products, and bakery items. Notably, Sarfaraz even gave up biryani as part of his commitment to fitness.
Naushad also shared his personal motivations for joining Sarfaraz on this journey. Facing a potential knee replacement due to health issues, Naushad lost 12 kg himself to delay the procedure. This shared experience highlights the family’s collective effort towards better health.
Despite Sarfaraz’s dedication and performance improvements, his exclusion from the India Tour of England drew criticism from former cricketers. Many believe his contributions warrant a place in the national team.
