Shilpa Shirodkar, a prominent actress from the 1990s, has recently captured attention on social media by sharing insights into her personal and professional journey. Known for her debut alongside Mithun Chakraborty, Shilpa made a significant decision to step away from her flourishing career at its peak. She candidly expressed no regrets about this choice, emphasizing the importance of her personal life over professional pursuits. Her marriage to Aparesh Ranjit, a banker with dual MBA degrees, marked a turning point in her life.
After marrying Aparesh Ranjit, Shilpa relocated from Mumbai to New Zealand. Reflecting on this transition, she shared with Pinkvilla that leaving India was challenging but necessary due to her husband’s career abroad. Despite missing the bustling life of an actress, she prioritized her relationship, stating that marrying a “sweet, nice and simple man” was crucial for her happiness. Shilpa acknowledged that had she married in India, she might have continued her acting career.
Shilpa openly discussed the educational disparity between herself and her husband. While she did not complete high school, Aparesh holds two MBA degrees and is well-read. Despite these differences, Shilpa never felt inferior in their relationship. She appreciates the intellectual conversations they share and values the respect and understanding that underpin their marriage.
Meeting Aparesh changed Shilpa’s perspective on leaving Mumbai. Although initially reluctant to move away from her parents, she was drawn to Aparesh’s honesty and integrity. Within days of meeting him, she decided to embrace a new life abroad. This decision was driven by love and conviction, leading to a fulfilling partnership that has lasted over 25 years.
On their 25th wedding anniversary, Shilpa celebrated their enduring bond with a heartfelt social media post. She expressed gratitude for Aparesh’s unwavering support throughout their journey together. Her message highlighted the strength of their relationship through life’s ups and downs.
Shilpa’s acting career began with Ramesh Sippy’s “Bhrashtachar” in 1989. She appeared in numerous successful films throughout the 1990s before taking a break in 2000. In 2013, she returned to television with Zee TV’s “Ek Mutthi Aasmaan” after a 13-year hiatus. Her participation in Bigg Boss 18 in 2024 marked another chapter in her diverse career.
