Devastating Collapse in Jhalawar District

A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district as a government school building collapsed, resulting in the deaths of four children. The collapse occurred at Piplodi Government School in Manohar Thana around 8:30 am on Friday. At the time of the incident, approximately 40 children, along with teachers and staff members, were present in the single-storey building when its roof gave way.

Condition of the Building and Previous Complaints

Sources indicate that the school building was in a dilapidated state, with several complaints having been lodged about its condition prior to the collapse. The school provides education up to Class 8, and concerns about the safety of the structure had been raised multiple times.

Rescue Efforts and Immediate Response

The local community quickly mobilized to assist in rescue efforts, with visuals from the scene showing residents working tirelessly to free trapped students, teachers, and staff. At least four JCB machines were deployed to help clear the debris. District administration officials, including the collector and disaster relief teams, were also present at the site to coordinate rescue operations.

Official Statements and Ongoing Investigation

Jhalawar Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar confirmed that four children had died and 17 others sustained injuries. Of those injured, ten children were referred to a hospital in Jhalawar, with three to four reported as being in critical condition. Education Minister Madan Dilawar has ordered an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the collapse. He has instructed local authorities to ensure proper medical care for the injured and to prevent any further hardships for those affected.

Medical Treatment for Injured Victims

The injured children have been transported to Manohar Thana Hospital for immediate treatment. Those with severe injuries are being moved to a larger hospital in Jhalawar for more comprehensive care. The community remains on high alert as rescue operations continue and investigations are underway.
