Odisha Vigilance Department Conducts Raids

The Odisha Vigilance Department launched a series of raids on Friday targeting six locations associated with deputy ranger Rama Chandra Nepak. These operations were initiated after authorities detected assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The raids uncovered significant findings, including Rs 1.44 crore in cash, four gold biscuits, and 16 gold coins, each weighing 10 grams.

The raids were conducted at various sites linked to Nepak, who is employed at the Jaipur forest range. Senior officials coordinated the operations, which took place at his flat in Jaipur, where a substantial amount of cash was discovered. Due to the volume of currency, a counting machine was brought in to assist with the process.

In addition to his flat, searches were carried out at another flat he owns in the same apartment complex. Further investigations extended to his office, a house built on ancestral land in Jaipur, his in-laws’ residence in Jaipur, and his brother’s flat in Bhubaneswar.

This raid follows another high-profile case involving a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Keonjhar last week. In that instance, officials discovered 115 land plots, gold weighing 200 grams, and other valuable assets.
