A heartbreaking incident occurred in Mumbai when a four-year-old girl, Anvika Prajapati, tragically fell from the window of a 12th-floor apartment. The accident took place in Navkar City, Naigaon, and has left the community in shock. Anvika’s mother had seated her on top of a shoe cupboard, from where the child climbed onto the windowsill before losing her balance and falling.
The sequence of events leading to the accident was captured on CCTV footage. On Wednesday evening, around 8 pm, Anvika and her mother were preparing for an outing. The footage shows Anvika stepping out of the house, followed by her mother. As they prepared to leave, Anvika slipped into adult footwear while her mother locked the door.
In an attempt to manage her daughter while getting ready, Anvika’s mother lifted her onto the shoe cupboard. While the mother put on slippers and gathered Anvika’s sandals, the young girl stood on the cupboard and attempted to sit on the windowsill. Unfortunately, she lost her balance and fell before she could stabilize herself.
The fall prompted immediate cries for help from Anvika’s mother. Neighbors quickly responded to the distress call and rushed to assist. Anvika was swiftly taken to Sir DM Petit Hospital in Vasai West. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. The community is mourning the loss of young Anvika as they await further details from the ongoing inquiry.
