Jadeja Criticizes Debutant Kamboj After Fielding Error Aids Root

Jadeja’s Frustration Over Fielding Mishap

During the third day of the fourth Test match between India and England, a fielding error by debutant Anshul Kamboj drew sharp criticism from Ravindra Jadeja. The incident occurred in the 54th over of England’s innings when Joe Root guided a delivery from Mohammed Siraj towards the gully. The fielder at gully managed to get a hand on the ball, but Jadeja’s subsequent throw missed the stumps. Root, who was far from the crease, was given a reprieve as no one was in position to collect the throw. Kamboj, positioned at mid-on, eventually retrieved the ball, but Jadeja’s visible displeasure highlighted his expectation for Kamboj to be near the stumps.

England’s Strong Batting Performance

England’s batting lineup continued to perform strongly, with vice-captain Ollie Pope and Joe Root both scoring unbeaten half-centuries. By lunch on day three, England had reached 332/2, reducing India’s first-innings lead to just 26 runs. Resuming at 225/2, Pope and Root added 107 runs during the morning session. Pope reached his fifty in 93 balls, while Root took 99 deliveries to achieve his half-century.

Root’s Milestone Achievement

Joe Root not only played a crucial role in England’s innings but also achieved a significant personal milestone. By surpassing Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis, Root became the third-highest run-scorer in Test cricket history. His unbeaten 63-run innings underscored his importance to England’s batting order.

Openers Set the Stage

The foundation for England’s strong position was laid by openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley on Thursday. Both batsmen scored half-centuries, with Duckett making 94 and Crawley contributing 84 runs. Their efforts helped England recover after bowling India out for 358 in their first innings.
