Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President, Chirag Paswan, has voiced strong criticism against the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government. Speaking to the media in Patna, Paswan highlighted the alarming rise in criminal activities across the state. He expressed his dismay at supporting a government where crime is rampant, emphasizing the urgent need for effective measures to curb this trend. Paswan warned that failure to address these issues could lead to severe consequences for the people of Bihar.
Paswan accused the state administration of succumbing to criminal elements, citing a series of violent incidents including murders, rapes, gang rapes, dacoity, burglary, theft, and eve teasing. Despite some actions and arrests by law enforcement, he questioned why such crimes continue unabated. The minister stressed that maintaining law and order is the government’s responsibility, regardless of any attempts by external forces to tarnish its image.
With assembly elections on the horizon, Paswan acknowledged the possibility that these crimes might be orchestrated to damage the government’s reputation. However, he maintained that it remains imperative for the administration to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents. Paswan’s remarks underscore the political implications of the current law and order situation in Bihar.
Recent incidents have intensified concerns over safety in Bihar. A female Home Guard candidate was gang-raped in an ambulance in Gaya, highlighting the vulnerability of women in the state. Additionally, high-profile murders have occurred, including that of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a hospital and industrialist Gopal Khemka outside his residence. These events have contributed to a growing sense of insecurity among residents.
In his appeal to the state government, Paswan urged immediate action to restore order and protect citizens. He criticized the administration for either being complicit or ineffective in addressing these crimes. Paswan’s statements reflect a broader demand for accountability and decisive action from Bihar’s leadership.
