Netanyahu Aims for Full Control of Gaza to End Hamas Rule

Netanyahu’s Strategic Shift in Gaza Policy

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a significant policy change regarding the Gaza Strip, aiming for Israel to assume full control of the region. This move marks a departure from nearly two decades of Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. In an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer, Netanyahu articulated his plan to dismantle Hamas and eventually transition governance to Arab authorities. He emphasized the dual objective of securing Israel and liberating the people of Gaza from Hamas’ influence. “We want to liberate ourselves and liberate the people of Gaza from the awful terror of Hamas,” Netanyahu stated, highlighting the need for civilian governance in the region.

Long-term Security and Humanitarian Concerns

While Netanyahu assured that Israel does not intend to occupy Gaza indefinitely, he stressed the necessity of a sustained security presence to dismantle Hamas, which he described as a “neo-Nazi army.” The ongoing conflict has left approximately 50 hostages in Gaza, with negotiations for their release stalling. The Israeli security cabinet is scheduled to meet to discuss the ongoing war and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. International organizations, including the United Nations, have raised alarms about potential famine and limited access to essential supplies.

Humanitarian Aid Challenges in Gaza

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with aid distribution facing significant challenges. Bill Hemmer reported from a food distribution center operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), where thousands received food despite logistical hurdles. Chapin Fay, a GHF spokesperson, described the scene as controlled yet desperate, with people struggling for survival in a war-torn environment. The United Nations Human Rights Council has called for GHF’s dismantling amid accusations of human rights violations, which the organization denies. Netanyahu defended Israel’s aid efforts, attributing the crisis to Hamas’ control and misappropriation of aid.
