Police have apprehended a second individual in connection with the disruptive incidents involving green sex toys being thrown during WNBA games. The latest arrest involves 18-year-old Kaden Lopez from Arizona, who was taken into custody after allegedly throwing a sex toy into the crowd during a recent game between the Phoenix Mercury and Connecticut Sun. According to FOX 10, Lopez retrieved the object from his sweater pocket and threw it towards the seats, hitting a spectator in the back.
Video footage captured Lopez sitting in his seat, pulling the object from his sweater, and throwing it forward before standing up and leaving the area. The incident resulted in another spectator being struck by the object. A court document revealed that an adult male victim, who was watching the game with his 9-year-old niece, was hit by the object. He expressed his desire for prosecution after realizing what had struck him.
This arrest follows a similar incident on July 29, where 23-year-old Delbert Carver was arrested for allegedly throwing a sex toy onto the court during an Atlanta Dream game against the Golden State Valkyries. The WNBA has emphasized that safety is a top priority, stating that any fan who throws objects onto the court will face immediate ejection, a minimum one-year ban, and potential legal action.
The incidents have raised concerns about player and fan safety. Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham was reportedly hit by a similar object during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks. The league’s strict security measures aim to prevent such occurrences and ensure a safe environment for all attendees.
