Sharad Pawar Denies Alliance with Ajit Pawar Amid Election Controversy

Sharad Pawar’s Stance on Alleged Electoral Misconduct

NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar addressed a press conference in Nagpur, where he discussed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft.” According to Pawar, Gandhi’s presentation was thorough and well-documented, urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to investigate the claims. Gandhi accused the ECI of colluding with the BJP to disenfranchise poor voters through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, labeling it as “institutionalised chori.”

Maha Vikas Aghadi’s Oversight

Pawar admitted that the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi, should have been more vigilant before the Maharashtra elections. He acknowledged the need for greater scrutiny and caution in electoral processes to prevent potential misconduct.

Controversy Over Seating Arrangements

A minor controversy arose regarding Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray’s seating at a dinner meeting hosted by Rahul Gandhi. Pawar clarified that Thackeray, along with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and himself, chose to sit at the back to view a PowerPoint presentation comfortably. He compared it to watching a movie from the back rows for better visibility.

Opposition’s Unsettled Decision on Vice-Presidential Election

The opposition has yet to finalize its stance on the upcoming Vice-Presidential election scheduled for September 9. Discussions are ongoing as they weigh their options and strategies.

Rejection of Alliance with Ajit Pawar

Sharad Pawar firmly dismissed rumors about his faction joining forces with his nephew Ajit Pawar’s ruling NCP. He reiterated his commitment to not aligning with any BJP-led alliance, maintaining his political independence and principles.
