In moments of crisis, finding peace can seem elusive. The biblical story of Moses illustrates this struggle vividly. As Pharaoh’s army pursued him and the Red Sea loomed ahead, Moses faced panic from two million Israelites. With nowhere else to turn, he looked to the heavens. Whether in anger or desperation, his plea was answered as the sea parted, allowing safe passage and leaving Egypt behind. This narrative highlights how sometimes divine intervention calms the storm itself.
There are instances when God chooses to calm the storm, removing obstacles like illness or financial strain. Yet, there are times when He calms the individual instead. This is evident in the story of Jesus calming a storm while at sea with His disciples. Despite the chaos, Jesus slept peacefully, demonstrating profound faith and trust. His ability to rest amidst turmoil offers a lesson in finding inner peace despite external chaos.
Today, anxiety is prevalent, with 43% of U.S. adults feeling more anxious than a year ago. Natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, and technological advancements contribute to this stress. The physical effects of anxiety are significant, impacting sleep, relationships, and overall health.
Bill Loveless, a minister diagnosed with cancer, found peace through his faith. Despite his prognosis, he experienced a profound sense of God’s presence and grace. Similarly, Susannah, who recently lost her husband, finds solace in gratitude and faith amidst her grief.
Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane before His crucifixion exemplifies ultimate peace amid adversity. Though God did not calm the storm of His impending death, He provided Jesus with peace to face it. May you find peace in your storms or within yourself when faced with life’s challenges.
