In a surprising turn of events during the Dallas Cowboys’ preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb found himself in an unusual situation. Although Lamb did not participate in the game, he was involved in an unexpected collision with an NFL official on the sidelines. The incident occurred as Lamb was celebrating a play by his teammate, Jonathan Mingo, who had skillfully maneuvered past Rams defenders to get open in the second quarter.
While cheering for Mingo’s impressive play, Lamb inadvertently stepped into the restricted white border area designated for officials. As referee Alex Moore explained, this area is crucial for officiating the game. The official, focused on his duties, accidentally ran into Lamb. Both men were helped up immediately and fortunately, neither sustained any injuries. However, the contact resulted in an automatic foul against the Cowboys due to sideline interference.
Despite this unusual incident, the game continued with the Los Angeles Rams securing a 31-21 victory over the Cowboys. Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett IV showcased his skills with 188 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Blake Corum contributed with two rushing touchdowns. On the Cowboys’ side, quarterback Joe Milton III managed 143 passing yards and a touchdown pass, and Will Grier added a rushing touchdown.
CeeDee Lamb is a key player for the Cowboys, serving as their No. 1 receiver. Although he may not see much action during the preseason, his performance remains critical for the team’s success in the regular season. Lamb’s impressive track record includes being named to the Pro Bowl four times and achieving 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns in 2024.
