The premiere of the Hindi crime thriller “So Long Valley” turned into a dramatic scene on Friday night when actress-model Ruchi Gujjar publicly confronted director-producer Karan Singh. The event, which was meant to celebrate the film’s launch, quickly descended into chaos as Gujjar allegedly slapped Singh with a sandal. The confrontation was captured on video and rapidly went viral on social media platforms, drawing widespread attention.
Ruchi Gujjar arrived at the screening accompanied by a group of protestors. These individuals were seen raising slogans against the producers, holding placards with the producers’ photos marked with red crosses. Some posters even depicted the producers sitting on donkeys, symbolizing public humiliation. The protest highlighted the tension between Gujjar and Singh, stemming from allegations of financial misconduct.
Gujjar has accused Karan Singh of defrauding her out of Rs 23 lakh under the guise of launching a television project that never materialized. She claims Singh promised her a share in the profits and on-screen credit, which were never fulfilled. Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered against Singh at the Oshiwara police station for cheating. A police official confirmed that the project did not proceed as promised and that Singh failed to return the money.
In response to the incident, director Man Singh labeled Gujjar’s actions as a “publicity stunt.” He stated that Gujjar had attempted to halt the film’s release through legal means, but the court allowed it to proceed. Singh challenged Gujjar to provide evidence of any payments made to Karan for the movie.
According to media reports, Karan Singh approached Gujjar last year with an offer to co-produce a Hindi television serial for Sony TV. Gujjar alleges that she made several payments from her company, SR Event and Entertainment, to accounts linked to Karan’s K Studios between July 2023 and January 2024. However, she claims these funds were diverted for producing “So Long Valley” instead of the promised television project.
“So Long Valley” is a Hindi-language crime thriller featuring Tridha Choudhury and Vikram Kochhar, directed and co-produced by Man Singh. The film’s release has been overshadowed by this controversy, drawing significant media attention.
