Air India Disburses Interim Compensation to Crash Victims’ Families

Air India has taken a significant step in providing financial relief to the families affected by the tragic crash involving flight AI 171. The airline has disbursed an interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh to each family of the 147 passengers who lost their lives in the incident, as well as to the families of 19 individuals who died at the accident site. This move is part of Air India’s ongoing efforts to support those impacted by this unfortunate event.

Verification and Payment Process Underway

The process of verifying claims and disbursing payments is progressing steadily. Verification has been completed for an additional 52 families, ensuring that they will soon receive their due compensation. Tata Group’s Commitment Through AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust

In addition to the interim compensation, the Tata Group has established the AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust. This trust has pledged an ex gratia amount of Rs 1 crore for each deceased passenger. The trust aims not only to provide financial support but also to ensure long-term welfare for the families affected by the tragedy.

Support for B J Medical College Hostel Infrastructure

As part of its broader commitment, the Tata Group is also focusing on enhancing infrastructure at B J Medical College Hostel.
