Al Jazeera Journalist’s Final Words Before Fatal Gaza Strike

Journalist’s Last Message Before Tragic Death

Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif was among five journalists killed in an Israeli strike near Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital. Before his death, al-Sharif left a poignant message on social media, which was posted posthumously by a friend. The message, described as his “last will and testament,” declared that if his words reached the public, it meant “Israel has succeeded in killing” him. He expressed peace and blessings, emphasizing his lifelong dedication to being a voice for his people since growing up in Jabalia refugee camp.

A Life Dedicated to Truth

At 28, al-Sharif hoped to reunite with his family in occupied Ashkelon (al-Majdal), but he acknowledged that “God’s will was supreme.” He recounted enduring pain and loss but remained committed to reporting the truth without distortion. He called for accountability from those who ignored the suffering of Palestinians and urged others not to be silenced by borders or restrictions.

A Call for Liberation and Remembrance

Al-Sharif encouraged the people of Gaza to strive for liberation and dignity. He implored them to care for his family, including his daughter, son, wife, and mother. His message concluded with a plea not to forget Gaza or him in prayers.

Colleagues Mourned Amidst Controversy

Alongside al-Sharif, Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Qreiqeh and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal were killed. An Al Jazeera anchor struggled with tears while reporting their deaths. The Israeli military later claimed al-Sharif was a Hamas operative posing as a journalist, citing intelligence documents as evidence.

Condemnation from Journalists’ Syndicate

The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemned the attack as a “bloody crime” of assassination, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by journalists in conflict zones.
