Andorra Leads Global Safety Rankings

In the latest Numbeo Safety Index for 2025, Andorra has been named the safest country in the world. Nestled between France and Spain in the Pyrenees mountains, this small European nation achieved a remarkable safety score of 84.7. The index highlights Andorra’s low crime rates and robust security measures, making it a standout in global safety.

Middle Eastern Nations Excel in Safety

The Middle East also features prominently in the top rankings, with the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Oman securing positions among the top five safest countries. The UAE scored 84.5, Qatar 84.2, and Oman 81.7, reflecting their strong security infrastructure and effective law enforcement practices.

India’s Surprising Ranking

India’s position in the safety index is noteworthy, as it ranks higher than traditionally stable nations like the United States and the United Kingdom. India secured the 66th spot with a score of 55.7, surpassing the UK at 87th (score: 51.7) and the US at 89th (score: 50.8). This ranking underscores India’s progress in enhancing public safety and security measures.

South Asian Nations’ Performance

Among South Asian countries, China leads with a score of 76.0, placing it at 15th position globally. Sri Lanka follows at 59th with a score of 57.9, while Pakistan is ranked 65th with a score of 56.3. Bangladesh, however, lags behind at 126th place with a score of 38.4.

Least Safe Countries Identified

The index also identifies Venezuela as the least safe country in 2025, with a safety score of just 19.3. Other countries facing significant safety challenges include Papua New Guinea, Haiti, Afghanistan, and Syria.
