The highly anticipated men’s Asia Cup 2025 is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, as announced by Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The tournament will feature a total of 19 matches, with games scheduled to be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This decision was finalized during an ACC meeting on July 24, attended by all 25 member nations.
One of the most awaited matches of the Asia Cup will be the group stage clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. This marquee match is scheduled for September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium. Both teams are placed in Group A alongside UAE and Oman. The excitement doesn’t end there, as India and Pakistan are likely to face off again in the Super Four stage on September 21, with a potential third encounter if both teams reach the final.
The Asia Cup will follow a T20 format, aligning with the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. Each team is allowed a squad of 17 players for this prestigious tournament.
Due to ongoing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, both countries have agreed to compete only at neutral venues until 2027. Consequently, although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is hosting the tournament, it will be held in the UAE.
According to ACC’s agreement with broadcasters, India and Pakistan are strategically placed in the same group to maximize viewership. This setup ensures at least two encounters between the two teams, with a possible third meeting if they both advance to the final.
India will kick off its campaign against UAE on September 10. Following their high-stakes match against Pakistan on September 14, India will face Oman on September 19. The Super Four stage will commence shortly after, promising more thrilling cricket action.
