BCCI Updates on Rishabh Pant’s Injury During India vs England Test

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided an update on the injury sustained by Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant during the third Test match against England. Pant was forced to leave the field after suffering a blow to his left index finger during the second session on Day 1. The incident occurred when Pant attempted to stop a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, which was directed down the leg side in the 34th over. Despite his efforts, Pant could not fully control the ball, allowing England’s Joe Root and Ollie Pope to complete a couple of runs.

Following the injury, Pant received immediate on-field treatment from the Indian medical team. However, he continued to experience discomfort and pain, leading to his eventual departure from the field at the end of Bumrah’s over. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel, who was not part of the playing XI for this Test, took over wicketkeeping duties.

The BCCI confirmed that Pant is under continuous medical supervision as he receives treatment for his injury. The board’s statement emphasized that Pant’s health and recovery are being closely monitored by the medical staff. The decision to replace him with Jurel was made after it became clear that Pant could not continue without risking further injury.

Pant’s injury is a significant concern for Team India, given his crucial role as vice-captain and wicketkeeper. His absence could impact India’s performance in this critical Test match against England. The team will be hoping for a swift recovery for Pant as they navigate through this challenging series.
