Police shoot dead Bhim Jora, accused in Delhi doctor’s murder

Police officials confirmed that Bhim Mahabahadur Jora, the main suspect in the killing of Delhi-based doctor Yogesh Chander Paul, was shot dead during an encounter in southeast Delhi. The Nepal national, who was allegedly the mastermind behind a series of crimes including a burglary at a BJP functionary’s residence in Gurgaon, was confronted by a joint police team when he reportedly opened fire.

Prime suspect linked to multiple crimes

According to investigators, Jora had been under surveillance for his suspected involvement in several criminal activities across Delhi and neighboring regions. He was identified as the key figure behind the murder of Dr. Yogesh Chander Paul, whose death had triggered an extensive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement units.

Police operation leads to deadly confrontation

Authorities stated that the encounter occurred when officers from a joint team traced Jora’s location in southeast Delhi. When approached for questioning, he allegedly fired at the police personnel, prompting them to retaliate. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Jora sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. No serious injuries were reported among the officers involved.

Connection to Gurgaon burglary case

Investigators also linked Jora to a recent burglary at the home of a BJP functionary in Gurgaon. The break-in had raised concerns about organized criminal networks operating across state borders. Police believe Jora played a central role in coordinating such operations and had been evading capture for several weeks prior to the encounter.

Nepal national with alleged gang ties

Officials described Jora as a Nepalese national who led a small but active gang involved in thefts and violent crimes around the National Capital Region. His group reportedly specialized in targeting affluent neighborhoods and high-profile individuals. Law enforcement agencies had been working jointly to dismantle his network following multiple complaints and intelligence inputs linking him to serious offenses.

Investigation continues after encounter

Following the incident, authorities initiated standard post-encounter procedures, including forensic examination of weapons recovered from the site and verification of ballistic evidence. Senior officers said that efforts are underway to trace other members of Jora’s group who may still be active in the region.

The death of Bhim Mahabahadur Jora marks a significant development in ongoing investigations into violent crime networks operating around Delhi and its adjoining areas. While police officials consider it a major breakthrough, they emphasized that further inquiries will continue to ensure all associates connected with his criminal activities are brought to justice.
