Bilawal Bhutto Warns India of War Over Indus Water Treaty Suspension

Pakistan’s Escalating Tensions with India

Pakistan has intensified its rhetoric against India, with politician Bilawal Bhutto issuing a stern warning to New Delhi. The warning comes in the wake of the suspension of the decades-old Indus Water Treaty and the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Bhutto, a former Pakistani foreign minister, accused India of inflicting “great damage” on Pakistan and called for national unity against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bhutto’s Call for Unity Against Modi

During a function organized by the Culture Department of the Sindh government, Bhutto emphasized the need for Pakistanis to unite against what he described as Indian aggression. He stated that the actions of the Indian government under Modi’s leadership have significantly harmed Pakistan. Bhutto urged his fellow citizens to stand together in opposition to these perceived threats.

Threat of War Over Indus Water Treaty

Bhutto further warned that if India continues to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan might have no option but to consider war. He asserted that Pakistanis are strong enough to reclaim all six rivers and protect their national interests. Bhutto cautioned that any further aggression from India would leave Pakistan with no choice but to explore all possible options, including military action.

Nuclear Threats from Pakistan’s Military Leadership

The situation escalated further when Pakistani army chief Asim Munir issued a nuclear threat, suggesting that if Pakistan faced an existential threat, it could retaliate by targeting half the world. Munir also threatened to destroy any Indian infrastructure on the Indus water channels that might impede water flow to Pakistan, highlighting the potential risk to 250 million people.

India’s Firm Response

In response, India strongly condemned Munir’s nuclear threats, labeling them as typical of Pakistan’s approach. The Indian Foreign Ministry criticized the remarks as irresponsible and reaffirmed India’s commitment to safeguarding its national security without succumbing to nuclear blackmail.
