BJP Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations on Voter List Manipulation

BJP Challenges Rahul Gandhi’s Claims

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly countered allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the manipulation of voter lists. BJP national spokesperson and Member of Parliament Sudhanshu Trivedi accused Gandhi of making baseless claims to undermine constitutional bodies, allegedly under the influence of foreign and anti-India forces. Trivedi criticized Gandhi for attempting to vent his frustration over losing political power by targeting the Election Commission with unfounded accusations.

Rahul Gandhi’s “Perpetual Youth” Label

Trivedi labeled Rahul Gandhi as the “perpetual youth” of Indian politics, suggesting that his statements lack substance and degrade the position of Leader of Opposition. According to Trivedi, Gandhi has been repeatedly caught making false statements both in court and in public forums. The BJP spokesperson accused Gandhi, his party, and the INDIA bloc of conspiring to tarnish India’s democratic image.

Election Commission’s Rebuttal

The Election Commission has refuted Gandhi’s claims, urging him to verify his data. Trivedi highlighted that despite repeated requests from the Commission, Gandhi has failed to substantiate his allegations. The Commission demanded a formal investigation or a declaration under oath from Gandhi, warning that failure to comply would imply deliberate misinformation.

Allegations of Voter List Manipulation

Gandhi released another set of what he termed “fake voter” lists, accusing the Election Commission of altering them at the BJP’s behest. He claimed this was achieved through fake addresses, multiple registrations at single addresses, and misuse of Form 6, intended for first-time voters. The Commission provided a detailed rebuttal, including an instance involving a 70-year-old woman allegedly voting twice.

Congress’s Demand for Transparency

Gandhi asserted that his party had requested a digital voter list and CCTV footage from the Election Commission but received no response. He claimed that their independent investigation, supported by Right to Information (RTI) requests, revealed data indicating electoral manipulation by the Election Commission and BJP.
