A significant political controversy has erupted in Telangana following claims by BJP MP CM Ramesh. He alleged that Kalvakuntla Tarka Rama Rao (KTR), the Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), proposed an alliance or merger with the BJP. This offer, according to Ramesh, was contingent upon halting ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probes against KTR’s sister, K Kavitha, and others. These allegations have intensified the political discourse in the state, drawing sharp reactions from both parties involved.
Speaking to the media, Ramesh challenged KTR, asserting that there is CCTV footage of KTR visiting his residence in Delhi. He claimed that during this visit, KTR requested the cessation of investigations against Kavitha and others, suggesting a potential merger with the BJP if these conditions were met. In response, KTR has strongly denied these allegations, emphasizing that the BRS was established for Telangana’s welfare and will not merge with any other party. He accused both the Congress and BJP of spreading false rumors to divert attention from their own alleged corrupt activities.
KTR further alleged a secret understanding between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BJP MP CM Ramesh. He claimed this collusion involved awarding large government contracts to Andhra Pradesh contractors in Telangana. KTR challenged both Revanth Reddy and Ramesh to engage in a public debate regarding these alleged scams. In response, Ramesh denied these accusations, particularly concerning the Greenfield road project. He clarified that several major companies competed for the project, which was awarded to Ritwik company according to rules. Ramesh stated he holds no directorial position in this firm.
Ramesh also questioned why BRS was letting go of key leaders like Tummala, suggesting internal political dynamics at play. He mentioned that KTR expressed concerns about potential alliances between BJP and TDP in Telangana, fearing it could diminish BRS’s influence. These developments highlight the complex political landscape in Telangana as parties navigate alliances and rivalries ahead of future elections.
