Brother’s Revenge: Highway Murder in Madhya Pradesh

A Sinister Tale of Revenge

In a chilling case of revenge, a murder on a highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri has unfolded with a plot more sinister than fiction. The story began eight years ago when Ajay Tomar was convicted of murdering his father, retired police inspector Hanuman Singh Tomar, over a family dispute. Ajay was sentenced to life imprisonment, while his brother Bhanu Tomar vowed to avenge their father’s death.

The Plot Unfolds

Bhanu, who joined the police force on compassionate grounds after his father’s death, meticulously planned his brother’s murder. When Ajay was granted parole last month, Bhanu saw his opportunity. He enlisted the help of a 17-year-old girl, who had escaped from a juvenile home and was accused in a gangrape case. She befriended Ajay and accompanied him on a trip from Shivpuri to Gwalior.

The Highway Ambush

On July 23, as Ajay traveled with the girl, he was unaware that she was part of a murder plot. Near Nayagaon Tiraha, she asked to stop the car under the pretense of needing a restroom break. This was the signal for hired killers to strike. Within moments, Ajay was shot dead in an ambush orchestrated by Bhanu and executed by Dharmendra Kushwaha, a criminal recently released from prison.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The police investigation involved scanning CCTV footage from 500 cameras along the route. The footage revealed the girl’s involvement and led to the arrest of Dharmendra and Bhanu’s cousin Monesh. The murder weapon and other evidence were recovered, linking Bhanu to the crime. Bhanu has since fled to Bangkok, but authorities are working to bring him back to face justice.

A Family Feud Turned Deadly

Shivpuri Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore described the case as “a family feud became an execution mission.” A lookout notice has been issued for Bhanu, and efforts are underway to ensure his return to India.
