Authorities in the Turks and Caicos Islands are working to identify a body discovered during the search for Brian Tarrence, a 51-year-old American from Monroe, New York, who went missing on June 25 while vacationing with his wife. The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force reported that Tarrence was last seen leaving the Paradise Inn in the Grace Bay Area. The same day, a security guard was killed at a supermarket in Blue Hills, approximately nine miles from where Tarrence disappeared. However, police have not established any connection between these two incidents.
Acting Superintendent Grantley Williams of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force released a statement via Facebook, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing and urging the public to avoid speculation. The body was found shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday in Grace Bay, but identification has not yet been confirmed. Autopsy results are pending, and police continue to appeal for information from the public.
The disappearance of Brian Tarrence has left his family and friends searching for answers. According to Carl DeFazio, the family’s private investigator, Tarrence was captured on security footage leaving his condo before vanishing. Earlier that day, he and his wife had enjoyed a boat trip. DeFazio noted that Tarrence’s belongings were left behind at the condo, and he was last seen wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers. His wife realized he was missing only the following morning.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has extended condolences to the family of the deceased individual found during the search. Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams urged patience as authorities work through official channels to confirm the identity of the body. The Tarrence family had planned to return home on June 29 after their vacation began on June 22. Anyone with information about Tarrence’s disappearance is encouraged to contact local authorities or Crime Stoppers.
