Two teenagers experienced a terrifying ordeal that nearly turned tragic during a weekend adventure near a well-known tourist spot in Oregon. The U.S. Coast Guard executed a daring helicopter rescue on Saturday after the teens, along with a firefighter from the Lincoln County Fire Department, became stranded on a cliffside at Roads End Point recreation site. This popular coastal destination is renowned for its tidepools, hidden coves, and islands formed by ancient lava fragments, attracting numerous visitors each year.

The incident unfolded when the Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received reports of two teenagers trapped on the rocky cliffs alongside a firefighter who had initially attempted to rescue them. Responding swiftly, an MH-60 helicopter crew was dispatched to the scene. Dramatic footage captured the helicopter locating the distressed trio and hoisting them to safety just yards from the perilous coastline. The successful rescue operation concluded with their safe transport to Siletz Bay State Airfield.

Commander Amanda Denning, executive officer of Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, emphasized the importance of regular training exercises with partner agencies to prepare for rescues in diverse conditions and terrains across the Pacific Northwest.
