Collin Gosselin, son of reality TV personalities Jon and Kate Gosselin, recently shared a heartfelt message on TikTok, shedding light on the challenges he and his siblings faced during their time on the popular show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” The series, which aired from 2007 to 2017, documented the lives of the Gosselin family, including twins Mady and Cara and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah, Joel, and Collin. Collin expressed that the siblings were “pitted against each other” due to the pressures of being in the public eye.
In his emotional post, Collin reflected on how fame affected their family dynamics. He described a sense of isolation despite being part of a large family, stating they were “born to be a team” but forced to navigate life separately. Collin’s poignant words highlighted the emotional toll that fame and media attention took on their childhoods. He lamented the lost opportunities for shared memories and expressed his enduring love for his siblings.
Collin’s journey was further complicated by personal struggles. Following his parents’ divorce, he began to exhibit behavioral issues during filming. At age 12, he was sent to Fairmount Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia without prior notice to the family. Collin later alleged that his mother institutionalized him to prevent him from revealing what he described as “abusive” treatment at home. Kate Gosselin has denied these allegations.
The aftermath of their reality TV experience continues to affect family relationships. Collin revealed he has not spoken to most of his siblings since 2016. His father, Jon Gosselin, also maintains limited contact with the children outside of Collin and Hannah. Despite these challenges, Collin emphasized that none of them chose to be on television; it was a decision made by their parents.
