A new study projects that millions of stomach cancer cases globally could be fueled by the Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Researchers estimate that a significant percentage of stomach cancers diagnosed in individuals born between 2008 and 2017 may be attributed to this bacterial infection. Implementing screen-and-treat strategies for H. pylori could substantially reduce the number of stomach cancer cases.
