A US State Department official has accused Chinese AI firm DeepSeek of supporting China’s military and intelligence operations. DeepSeek is also alleged to have used shell companies in Southeast Asia to unlawfully acquire high-end US semiconductors. The US government believes DeepSeek shares user data with Beijing’s state surveillance apparatus and has provided technology services to PLA research institutions.
