A Delhi restaurant has come under fire after a couple claimed they were denied entry due to wearing Indian attire. The incident, captured in a viral video, took place at a restaurant in the Pitampura area. The video shows the couple expressing their frustration over being refused entry, while others were allowed inside. The person recording the video criticized the restaurant’s policy, arguing that such establishments should not operate if they discriminate based on attire.
The viral video caught the attention of Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra, who addressed the issue on social media. He stated that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had been informed and had taken serious note of the situation. Mishra emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable in Delhi and announced that officials have been instructed to investigate and take immediate action against the restaurant.
Following the public outcry, Kapil Mishra updated that the restaurant owners agreed to lift any attire-based restrictions. They assured that customers wearing Indian attire would be welcomed and even announced special discounts for women visiting in traditional clothing during Rakshabandhan.
Despite these developments, restaurant owner Neeraj Aggarwal denied the allegations, explaining that the couple was turned away due to not having a reservation, not because of their attire. He insisted that the restaurant does not enforce any dress code and welcomes all patrons. The incident has sparked a broader debate on social media, with many users demanding strict action against the restaurant. Some called for its closure, while others criticized the need for government intervention in such matters.
