Delhi Woman and Brother-In-Law Charged in Husband’s Murder Plot

Murder Investigation Unveils Shocking Betrayal

The tragic death of Karan Dev, initially thought to be an accidental electrocution, has unraveled into a chilling murder case in Delhi. The 36-year-old was brought to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital by his wife, Sushmita, who claimed he had suffered an electric shock. Hospital staff declared him dead, and his family initially waived a post-mortem, believing it was an accident. However, the Delhi Police insisted on an autopsy due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Family Suspicions Lead to Breakthrough

Despite objections from Sushmita and her cousin Rahul, the police proceeded with the autopsy at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Three days later, Karan’s younger brother, Kunal, approached the police with suspicions of foul play. He presented evidence of an Instagram chat between Sushmita and Rahul that revealed their affair and a plot to murder Karan.

Chilling Details of the Murder Plot

The chats disclosed that Sushmita and Rahul had given Karan 15 sleeping pills during dinner, waiting for him to become unconscious. They had even researched online how long it would take for the pills to be fatal. While Karan was still breathing but unconscious, Sushmita expressed her desire to nap before they staged his death as an accident by administering an electric shock.

Confession and Arrest

Police have taken Sushmita into custody, where she confessed to conspiring with Rahul to kill her husband. She cited emotional and physical abuse as motives, claiming Karan had slapped her before ‘Karwachauth’ and frequently demanded money. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and are awaiting a detailed post-mortem report to proceed with further arrests.

Official Statement from Authorities

DCP Dwarka Ankit Singh confirmed that a case has been registered based on initial investigations. The process of arresting those involved is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
