Family Criticizes Police Over Missing Delhi University Student

19-Year-Old Student Missing for Six Days

Sneha Debnath, a 19-year-old student from Delhi University, has been missing for six days, sparking concerns and frustration among her family. Originally from Tripura, Sneha moved to Delhi for higher education and was studying at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College. Her disappearance occurred after she went to drop a friend at the Sarai Rohilla railway station on July 7.

Alleged Suicide Note Raises Questions

A note allegedly written by Sneha was discovered in her room, suggesting she intended to end her life by jumping from the Signature Bridge. However, her sister Bipasha Debnath has expressed skepticism about the note’s authenticity, describing it as a “crisp four lines” without any explanation for Sneha’s alleged depression. Bipasha believes the note’s brevity and lack of detail raise doubts about its validity.

Family Suspects Manipulation

Bipasha suspects that Sneha, despite being academically gifted, may have been manipulated due to her young age. She questions why Sneha would choose a location like Signature Bridge, where surveillance cameras are reportedly non-functional, instead of a more accessible place if she intended to harm herself.

Frustration with Police Inaction

The family has voiced their frustration with the police’s response to Sneha’s disappearance. Bipasha has been tirelessly seeking assistance but feels that the investigation is not progressing. She criticizes the lack of resources and attention given to the case, noting that even basic tasks like accessing Sneha’s MacBook remain unfulfilled.

Search Efforts Underway

The Delhi Police, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are conducting search operations in the Yamuna River area. Despite these efforts, Sneha’s whereabouts remain unknown. Her mother, Pinki Debnath, rejects claims that Sneha was depressed and emphasizes her daughter’s cheerful nature.

A Mother’s Plea

Pinki Debnath is desperate for her daughter’s return and dismisses any notion of Sneha being reserved or unhappy. She recalls their close relationship and playful interactions, underscoring her disbelief in the suicide theory. The family continues to hope for Sneha’s safe return.
