The family of Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old tennis player who was tragically shot dead at her home in Gurugram, has refuted claims that she faced restrictions in her life. Radhika’s cousins have come forward to dispute allegations made by Himaanshika Singh Rajput, who claims to be Radhika’s best friend. According to Ms. Rajput, Radhika’s father was controlling and critical, which allegedly led to the tragic incident. However, the family insists that Radhika was free to travel and pursue her tennis career without any constraints.
In an Instagram video, Ms. Rajput accused Radhika’s father of being overly controlling and critical of his daughter. She claimed that societal pressure and negative influences from acquaintances contributed to the father’s actions. Ms. Rajput stated that Radhika was often criticized and restricted from doing what she loved, including posting videos online.
Radhika’s family strongly disagrees with these accusations. Her cousins argue that if there had been any restrictions, Radhika would not have been able to travel the world for her tennis career. They emphasize that the family supported her endeavors financially and emotionally, allowing her to compete internationally.
Radhika was shot at her family’s home in the Sushant Lok area of Gurugram. Her father, Deepak Yadav, confessed to the crime and was subsequently arrested. According to police statements, the conflict between father and daughter stemmed from disagreements over the tennis academy Radhika managed.
The postmortem report revealed that Radhika received four gunshot wounds—three in the back and one in the shoulder. The family continues to challenge the narrative presented by Ms. Rajput, asserting that there were no undue restrictions placed on Radhika.
