Tragic Incident Unfolds in Gurugram

In a shocking incident in Gurugram, 25-year-old national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was tragically shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their home. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, following months of escalating tensions within the family. According to police reports, the conflict stemmed from Radhika’s financial independence and her recent appearance in a music video, which reportedly upset her father.

Father’s Confession and Motive

Deepak Yadav, 49, confessed to the murder during initial police questioning. He revealed that he felt humiliated by villagers in his native Wazirabad for relying on his daughter’s earnings. This pressure led him to urge Radhika to close the tennis academy she had established in Sector 57. Despite his pleas, Radhika continued to pursue her career, which further strained their relationship.

Details of the Shooting

The tragic event unfolded around 10:30 am when Deepak shot Radhika three times in the back while she was preparing breakfast. Her uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, who lived on the ground floor of the same building, heard the gunshots and rushed upstairs. He found Radhika lying motionless on the kitchen floor, with the revolver discarded nearby. Despite being rushed to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Music Video as a Trigger

Radhika’s appearance in a music video titled “Karwaan” by independent artist INAAM may have been a significant trigger for her father’s actions. Produced by Zeeshan Ahmad and released under LLF Records, the video featured Radhika alongside INAAM. Sources indicate that Deepak objected to her participation and had asked her to remove it from her social media accounts.

Family Dynamics and Reactions

Radhika had recently sustained a shoulder injury that paused her playing career but chose to coach young players instead. Her father’s objections intensified after receiving taunts about living off her success. Kuldeep Yadav filed the FIR and recounted hearing a loud sound before discovering his niece’s body. Meanwhile, Deepak’s wife, Manju Yadav, was present during the incident but has not provided a written statement due to illness.
