Washington authorities launched an extensive search operation following a tip-off about a potential sighting of Travis Decker, a fugitive father wanted in connection with the alleged murders of his three daughters. The King County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report near Snoqualmie Pass and the Pacific Crest Trail, approximately 55 miles from Seattle. The sighting was reported by a community member around 6 p.m. on Friday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
In response to the tip, a significant number of deputies, along with TAC-30 and K-9 units, were deployed to the area. Neighboring agencies were also alerted to assist in the search efforts. Despite the large-scale operation, which lasted approximately three hours, authorities were unable to locate Decker and eventually called off the search.
This recent search effort follows previous reports of potential sightings of Decker, including one in Idaho’s Sawtooth Forest last month, which turned out to be a false alarm. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office had previously announced a reduction in their manhunt efforts due to a decrease in tips from the public.
Travis Decker has been missing for over two months after his daughters—Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5—were found deceased at Rock Island Campground on June 2. Their mother had reported them missing after they failed to return from a court-mandated custody visit with Decker. The girls’ bodies were discovered near Decker’s abandoned pickup truck with their hands bound and plastic bags over their heads.
Decker, described as a military-trained survivalist and former U.S. Army member, is considered armed and dangerous. However, authorities do not believe he poses a threat to public safety at large. He faces charges of three counts of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Despite extensive efforts by local, state, and federal agencies—including the U.S. Marshals Service and Border Patrol’s Tactical Unit—the search for Decker continues without success. Authorities urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
