However, users have reported severe side effects, including skin infections, seizures, and withdrawal symptoms.

User Experiences Highlight Dangers

Chris Oflyng from Madison, Wisconsin, shared his troubling experience with Feel Free. Initially using kratom as an alternative to Adderall, he found himself addicted to the tonic. Consuming up to ten doses daily led to nausea, excessive sweating, and heart issues. Oflyng also experienced skin problems, attributing them to the combination of kratom and kava. Despite its potential benefits for chronic pain sufferers, the unregulated nature of kratom poses significant risks.

Addiction and Withdrawal Challenges

Jasmine Adeoye from Texas began using Feel Free in 2022 after quitting alcohol. Unaware of its addictive properties, her consumption escalated to 12 bottles a day, costing her up to $3,000 monthly. Lauri Wright, Ph.D., from the University of South Florida, cautions against the combination of kratom and kava due to their addictive potential. Kratom acts on opioid receptors, leading to dependence and withdrawal symptoms similar to opioids. Kava can cause liver damage and skin issues. Wright advises consumers with a history of substance use or liver conditions to avoid such products.
