In a brazen daylight robbery, two men disguised as food delivery agents targeted a jewellery shop in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Thursday around 3:30 PM and was captured on CCTV. The footage shows the suspects wearing helmets and uniforms resembling those of Blinkit and Swiggy delivery personnel. They forcefully entered Mansi Jewellers, pushing aside an employee to gain access.
Once inside, the robbers wasted no time. They began grabbing ornaments from the display cases, swiftly filling their backpacks with valuable items. The CCTV footage also captured one of the robbers throwing a chair across the counter to reach more jewellery. The entire heist lasted only a few minutes, during which the staff member present was seen standing helplessly in a corner.
The robbers made off with approximately 20 kilograms of silver and 125 grams of gold. The shop owner recounted that he was in the washroom when the caretaker raised the alarm by shouting “chor chor” (thief, thief). Upon hearing this, he rushed to the scene and immediately contacted the police.
The police arrived at the location within 15-20 minutes of being alerted and commenced their investigation into the robbery. The swift action by law enforcement aims to track down the culprits and recover the stolen jewellery. This incident highlights the need for increased security measures in retail establishments, especially those dealing with high-value items.
