Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill has confirmed that star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will return to the lineup for the third Test match against England at Lord’s. Bumrah, who missed the second Test at Edgbaston after participating in the series opener, is set to bolster India’s bowling attack. Following India’s historic victory at Edgbaston, Gill was asked about Bumrah’s availability for the upcoming match, to which he confidently responded, “Definitely.” Gill expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their exceptional bowling and fielding efforts. He noted that achieving a score of 400-500 on challenging wickets was crucial for staying competitive. Gill praised Bumrah’s ability to move the ball both ways on difficult pitches, emphasizing his heart and precision in hitting the right areas and lengths.

In the second Test match, Akash Deep delivered a remarkable performance, taking 6-99 to complete a ten-wicket haul as India defeated England by 336 runs. This victory marked India’s first-ever Test win at Edgbaston and leveled the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at 1-1. India entered the game without Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, trailing 0-1 after a surprising loss at Leeds. Akash stepped up as Bumrah’s replacement, showcasing an extraordinary fast-bowling display that troubled English batters on a flat pitch. His efforts helped dismiss England for 271 on the final day with more than a session remaining.

Akash’s achievement makes him only the second Indian bowler to claim a ten-wicket haul in a Test in England since Chetan Sharma’s feat in Birmingham in 1986. He received strong support from teammates Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar, each contributing a wicket. Shubman Gill also shone with the bat, scoring 269 and 161 runs, securing his first victory as India’s Test captain.
