Gujarat ATS Arrests Four Al-Qaeda Operatives Using Auto-Delete Apps

Gujarat ATS Nabs Al-Qaeda Operatives

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has successfully apprehended four individuals linked to the notorious terrorist organization, al-Qaeda. These arrests were made in connection with a fake currency racket and the dissemination of extremist ideologies. Among the arrested, one suspect was captured in a different state, highlighting the extensive reach of the operation.

Use of Technology in Terror Activities

The suspects, identified as Mohd Faiq, Mohd Fardeen, Sefullah Kureshi, and Zeeshan Ali, were reportedly using social media platforms and specialized apps to propagate al-Qaeda’s ideology. These applications, known for their auto-delete features, were instrumental in erasing communication traces, making it challenging for authorities to track their activities.

Interrogation and Investigation

Currently, the four suspects are undergoing rigorous interrogation by the Gujarat ATS. Initial investigations reveal that they have been associated with al-Qaeda for an extended period. Their interactions with the terror group were primarily facilitated through social media channels.

Detection and Surveillance

The ATS’s surveillance efforts paid off when these individuals were detected discussing potential terror activities within Gujarat. This led to their eventual capture and the ongoing analysis of their digital communications and social media interactions.

Historical Context of Al-Qaeda

Al-Qaeda originated from Makhtab al-Khidamat, established by Osama bin Laden’s mentor, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam. Initially created to fund terrorists in Afghanistan, al-Qaeda has since orchestrated numerous attacks across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. From its inception until 1991, it operated out of Afghanistan and Peshawar, Pakistan. Between 1996 and 2001, under Bin Laden’s leadership and Taliban protection, it continued its operations from Afghanistan.
