Gunfire has once again erupted at comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Surrey, Canada, marking the second such incident within a month. The latest attack involved over 25 shots being fired, as captured in a video circulating on social media. The video also features a voice claiming responsibility for the attack, stating that further actions might occur if their demands are not met. This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of the establishment and its patrons.
Two gangs, led by Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi, have taken to social media to claim responsibility for the attack. The ongoing rivalry between these groups has been a point of concern for local authorities. The video of the shooting has further intensified the situation, with threats of additional actions being made if their warnings go unheeded.
The first shooting at Kapil Sharma’s newly opened Kap’s Cafe occurred on July 10, when employees were present inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although significant damage was caused by at least 10 bullet holes found in a window. In response to these violent acts, Kaps Cafe has vowed to remain steadfast against violence, emphasizing its commitment to being a place of warmth and community.
The Mumbai Police and other security agencies are actively investigating the incidents. Local police have acknowledged reports from Indian media suggesting that a Khalistani separatist was involved in the July 10 shooting. Harjit Singh Laddi, a member of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), claimed responsibility for the initial attack, citing offensive remarks made during one of Sharma’s shows as the motive. BKI is recognized as a terrorist organization by Canada, and Laddi is on India’s most-wanted list.
