Heartbroken Mother Urges D.C. to Tackle Violent Crime After Son’s Tragic Death

A Mother’s Heartbreaking Plea for Justice

The grieving mother of a congressional intern, tragically killed in a Washington D.C. drive-by shooting, has made an emotional appeal to city officials to address the escalating crime rates. Tamara Tarpinian-Jachym, whose 21-year-old son Eric was fatally shot on June 30, shared her family’s ongoing anguish and called for decisive action against violent criminals. “Our lives will never be the same,” she lamented, expressing her husband’s wish that he could have taken the bullets meant for their son.

The Tragic Incident and Its Aftermath

Eric, who was serving as an intern for Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kan., was not the intended target of the shooting, which also injured a 16-year-old male and an adult female. Despite the severity of the crime, no suspects have been apprehended, leaving Tamara and her family in a state of uncertainty and grief. In a poignant interview with “Fox & Friends First,” she recounted the devastating moment she learned of her son’s death.

Call for Stronger Crime Policies

Tamara criticized city officials for “coddling” criminals and urged them to implement tougher crime policies to protect D.C.’s residents and visitors. She emphasized the need for immediate action to curb violence in the nation’s capital, warning that without change, more innocent lives would be lost.

Support from Prominent Figures

In response to the tragedy, President Donald Trump sent a heartfelt letter to the Tarpinian-Jachym family, offering his condolences. Tamara expressed gratitude for this gesture and acknowledged the support from Rep. Estes’ office during this difficult time.

Remembering Eric’s Legacy

Describing Eric as an “old soul” who was “highly intelligent” and “humble,” Tamara tearfully recounted his love for fishing and his close bond with his father. She emphasized how deeply he is missed by his family, who are struggling to cope with their loss.
