Tragic Incident at Birthday Celebration

A birthday party in Hyderabad’s Abdullapurmet turned into a scene of tragedy on Thursday evening when a 35-year-old woman, S Sammakka, was fatally stabbed by her estranged husband, S Srinu, aged 50. The shocking incident unfolded at the residence of Srinu’s niece, Rajeswari, during a celebration for her 14-year-old daughter’s birthday. The attack occurred in front of numerous guests, including children, leaving them in a state of panic and disbelief.

Details of the Attack

Sammakka, who had recently separated from Srinu due to ongoing marital issues, had relocated to Abdullapurmet from Suryapet. Despite their separation, she was invited to the family gathering. As the party progressed towards the cake-cutting ceremony around 7:15 pm, Srinu arrived unexpectedly. Sammakka was recording the event on her mobile phone when Srinu suddenly attacked her with a knife, stabbing her three times in the neck. Eyewitnesses reported that Srinu shouted accusations of infidelity during the assault.

Immediate Aftermath and Police Response

The brutal attack resulted in Sammakka collapsing and dying on the spot. The guests were left horrified by the sudden violence. Abdullapurmet Inspector V Ashok Reddy confirmed that Rajeswari filed a complaint against her maternal uncle, Srinu. A murder case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the BNS.

Investigation and Motive

Preliminary police investigations suggest that long-standing marital discord and Srinu’s suspicions about Sammakka’s fidelity were motives behind the murder. Sammakka was Srinu’s second wife, and he had children with both her and his first wife, who is chronically ill. After committing the crime, Srinu fled the scene while allegedly threatening those who tried to intervene.

Arrest and Evidence Collection

Srinu was apprehended by police in Hayathnagar on Friday evening. Authorities have seized Sammakka’s mobile phone, which reportedly captured footage of the incident. Her body has been sent to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
