India Sets New Record for Sixes in Test Series Against England

India Breaks Sixes Record in Test Series

In a remarkable achievement, Team India has set a new record for the most sixes hit in a single away Test series. This milestone was reached during their ongoing series against England, with two matches still to play. Previously, the record was jointly held by West Indies and New Zealand, who had each hit 32 sixes in an away series. However, India has surpassed this with 36 sixes, showcasing their aggressive batting approach.

Key Contributors to India’s Record

Several Indian players have been instrumental in achieving this record. Rishabh Pant contributed two sixes, while Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Reddy, and Akash Deep each added one to the tally. With the series only at its halfway point, there is potential for India to extend this record even further, possibly exceeding 50 sixes by the series’ end.

Current Match Developments

The third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series is currently underway at Lord’s. On Day Three, England’s openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett managed to reach 2/0 at stumps after India was bowled out for 387 runs. This score matched England’s first innings total, setting up an intriguing second innings battle.

Notable Performances and Tensions on the Field

KL Rahul was a standout performer for India, scoring exactly 100 runs. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja also made significant contributions with scores of 74 and 72, respectively. Despite these efforts, India lost their last four wickets for just 11 runs. For England, Chris Woakes was the key bowler with figures of 3-84. As the day drew to a close, tensions flared on the field. Indian skipper Shubman Gill exchanged words with England’s Zak Crawley over perceived time-wasting tactics. The situation escalated when Crawley was hit on the glove by a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, prompting a check from the physio and further exchanges between players.
